ASUS ROG has begun its CES 2024 announcement by unveiling this year’s gaming laptop lineup, showcasing the Zephyrus and Strix series.
In today’s AI-dominated era, ROG has embraced the trend by selecting the Zephyrus G14 and Zephyrus G16 to handle the task. They have divided the responsibility, with the G14 equipped with the new AMD Ryzen 8000 series processor featuring Ryzen AI, while the G16 runs on the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H.
GPU-wise, the smaller model supports up to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU, while the larger one accommodates the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU.
Let’s delve into the distinctive features first. Both machines will boast the shiny new OLED-based ROG Nebula Display, promising a no-compromise, color-accurate, and seamlessly smooth gaming experience. Developed in collaboration with NVIDIA and Samsung Display, these panels are among the earliest G-SYNC OLED panels available.
On the design front, the chassis has undergone a revamp, now featuring the new customizable Slash Lighting array on the lid. The matte coat can be either the classic Eclipse Gray or the new Platinum White.
Weight balance is not overlooked, with the Zephyrus G14 weighing in at a mere 1.5kg and 1.59cm thick, while the Zephyrus G16 is slightly heavier at 1.85kg and 1.49cm thick.
In terms of cooling, the Zephyrus G14 employs Thermal Grizzly liquid metal on the CPU, triple cooling fans, and 2nd Gen Arc Flow Fans. However, the Zephyrus G16 takes it a step further, incorporating a custom vapor chamber and a dual-fan design, especially essential for the powerful RTX 4090.
To facilitate gamers in starting their gaming journey right out of the box, each unit will include a code for a 3-month subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate so one can power up, redeem, login, and start downloading games.
Turning our attention to the Strix family, the SCAR 16 and SCAR 18 will feature the groundbreaking ROG Nebula HDR Display at last. This panel incorporates a MiniLED backlight with over 2,000 dimming zones and a brightness of 1,100 nits for precise contrast control.
In addition to exceptional HDR performance, these laptops are designed for competitive gaming, boasting a 2.5K resolution at a 240Hz refresh rate and less than a 3ms GtG response time. The 16:10 aspect ratio and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut add to the overall appeal.
Local Launch
ROG Malaysia will be revealing the launch date and pricing for all of these Zephyrus and Strix gaming laptops on January 19 so we’ll be back for some specs posting.
