Let’s face it – everyone is weeping over the fact that GST is coming, and all of our beloved gadgets will be imposed to a 6% tax. That’s right, all gadgets will be 6% more expensive starting 1st of April 2015.

Previously, we also did a guide on how to choose laptops for yourself which you should most definitely check out, but here is a list on what to buy without researching for yourself. Without wasting any of the precious half a month left, here’s a breakdown of the list.

Light users

Generally, I can foresee users on this category are asking for something low priced, small, and light. Netbooks – remember those? They’re actually making a comeback.

For this, I’ll recommend the one and only ASUS EeeBook X205TA which we covered slowly here. They’re small and light – 11.6-inches and weighs slightly less than a kilogram. Packs an Intel Bay Trail-T quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM – although it only has 32GB of built-in storage, so an external hard disk is necessary. Oddly enough, one can expand up to another 64GB with the microSD card slot.

If you’re looking to get one of these rock solid, heart touching machines, STARSHOP located at 4th floor of Lowyat Plaza is selling them for RM760 right now. Disappointed that there isn’t any 64GB version available now though.

Heavy users

Here’s for the heavy users – work a lot on laptop, but don’t need high-end hardware, constrained to below RM2,500. Here are a few laptops that suit you.

High-end/Enthusiasts

Personally, I fall into this category. Yet again, the chosen laptops change a lot over the course of few months.

As a bonus, here are a few other form factors which you might want to consider, particularly on high-ish performance ultrabooks. When things get too expensive (above RM3,000), it’s up to you to make the decision.

Another thing to note – all these people here are trustworthy, as they have been trading online for the longest of time. putochip123, hikari85, STARSHOP, numbertwo – I can definitely recommend them without hesitation.

Those are the few models that you should definitely be on the lookout for – or at least serve as a guideline to find similar alternatives in terms of the price and performance.
