It’s definitely exciting to see more and more companies jumping into the mechanical keyboard bandwagon, and the latest one to hop on is the BIOSTAR GK3. The BIOSTAR said that the GK3 is aimed solely on gamers, and it’s priced at the MRSP of only $44.99.
To me, the BIOSTAR GK3 looks familiar – as it adopts a pretty standard mechanical keyboard design with no case at all. That means the mechanical switches itself are mounted on the metal chassis plate itself. This is common across the Corsair K-series mechanical keyboards.
However, the BIOSTAR GK3 brings one interesting features to the table – and that’s waterproof. According to BIOSTAR, the GK3 has “drain holes to protect against spills”, and ” the PCB with the electronics on the underside of the internals with a special waterproof coating”. It seems like the easiest way to clean the BIOSTAR GK3 is by pouring water all over it.

Are you interested in getting one? It’s certainly rare to see a keyboard being “waterproof”. I really hope more mechanical keyboards are waterproof, as it’s really difficult to reach those smaller areas to clean.
