The new Black Shark 4 has arrived at the Malaysian market! Well, not yet but soon. We had the opportunity to try out the Black Shark 4 recently and we had a lot of fun with that smartphone.
It took what we love about the Black Shark 3 Pro (review here) and made it better yet more affordable. Yes, the physical shoulder trigger buttons are now available on the Black Shark 4. You don’t have to buy the Pro version to enjoy those triggers.
Being a gaming phone, let’s first talk about the phone a little. The Black Shark 4 comes with this list of specs:
- 6.67-inch AMOLED screen
- HDR10+ support
- 144Hz refresh rate
- 2400×1080 pixels in resolution
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset
- 8GB RAM
- 128GB storage
- Not expandable via microSD
- Triple rear-facing cameras
- Main: 48MP f/1.8; PDAF
- Ultrawide: 8MP f/2.2
- Macro: 5MP f/2.4; autofocus
- 20MP f/2.0 selfie camera
- 4,500mAh battery
- Supports 120W charger (included)
With the specs out of the way, we have to talk about the new triggers. They’re no longer using the software-controlled triggers like the Black Shark 3 Pro, but instead, have two individual push switches to either eject or retract the physical triggers.
This also means that the physical triggers can be popped out even when not playing games. This allows the physical triggers to be used in a few interesting ways – like customizing each trigger to do whatever you want. Maybe toggle the flashlight on or off, taking a screenshot, or something else. There’s an entire list of actions that you can choose from.
And my immediate thought is – can the physical triggers be used to take pictures? And to my surprise, yes! Pressing the left trigger will have a 3-second timer, whereby pressing the right trigger acts as a shutter button with no timer. Because of the tactility of the physical trigger, it really feels like I’m pressing the shutter button on a camera.

But obviously, these physical triggers are used for gaming. So, here’s a video of us playing some games on the Black Shark 4 with its physical triggers. This is the most effective way to show how great those triggers are – especially while playing COD Mobile and PUBG Mobile.
While we only used the physical triggers while doing our gaming test, the Black Shark 4 also has motion sensors through a gyroscope. For example, tilting the phone in a certain direction will also trigger an action.
With all of said, when is the Black Shark 4 actually coming to Malaysia? Well, it’s coming real soon because pre-order for the Black Shark 4 is coming this 28th to 30th April 2021.
The prices are as follows:
- 8GB RAM + 128GB storage @ RM2,299
- 12GB RAM + 256GB storage @ RM2,799
This is through the official distributor here in Malaysia so purchasing the Black Shark 4 through the official stores will get you these perks:

Plus, there are more bonuses too. Malaysia’s Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) Season 7 gathers the best 10 teams in the country to compete for a prize pool of USD $100,000.
From the 28th to 30th May 2021, join and witness who will be the champion on MPL Malaysia Facebook Page. The top 2 MPL Malaysia champions will be representing Malaysia in the Southeast Asia championship which will be happening in early June.
This is the first standalone MPL tournament where Singaporean teams will not be competing against their Malaysian rivals, and a new format change for the competition.
The league hopes to bring Malaysian stories and player highlights to a greater spotlight and celebrates their successes.
