It’s been nearly a year since Microsoft first started to push out their “free” upgrades for Windows 10 to all Windows 7 and 8/8.1 users. Everything was fine and dandy when the upgrade was a choice, until Microsoft decided to change it to be a “security update”. Later on, it became a forced update that Microsoft starts shoving up everyone’s throat – but you can spew it out within the first 30 days, and we’ve even covered it here.
Jerry from Barnacules made it clear enough on the entire documentation of what Microsoft is heading with Windows 10 and its updates.
Obviously it’s gonna take a freakishly long time to just let the force upgrade to finish its thing, then select the option to let it downgrade back. However, there’s a better option – not letting it update to begin with. Introducing Never10.
You can find Never10 right here, and it’s developed by Steve Gibson. This tool is really simple to use – just pop it open and follow the instructions on screen.
Seriously speaking though, I do like Windows 10 – just now the telemetry and data mining they’re doing. Especially since such crapware till tax on your hardware, yet Microsoft is making all the profit. Also, after July 29th, you’ll have to pay Microsoft for Windows 10, so that they can gather all of your data to sell.
Just my 2 cents here – and Microsoft might change their one-year free upgrade term too.
