With the annual Earth Day coming in next week, Dell is getting ahead of the game by revealing the internal design of the Latitude 5000 series laptop to explain the thought process behind the technology giant’s way of contributing to the environment. As customers are prioritizing more on purchases that will make an impact on sustaining nature, the Latitude 5000 series’ large-volume sales naturally contribute to the cause the most so here’s how much Dell is putting recyclable materials into the production of the entire package from the device to the accessories.
- 21% tree-based bioplastic, 20% reclaimed carbon fiber, 30% recycled plastic for the laptop lid
- 20% reclaimed carbon fiber, 39% bio-based rubber feet for the chassis base
- 28% of ocean-bound plastic for the fan housing
- 100% recycled material for the packaging
Not only through the Latitude 5000 series products, Dell actually has done a lot in consuming wasted but recyclable materials since 2017 with over 227,000 pounds of ocean-bound plastics to make more than 5.1 million units of packaging trays and endcaps. The brand also announced that the environmental-friendly packaging will be included in all Latitude, Precision, and XPS devices in the future.
