Dell.com.my was hacked today by a group called “Tiger – M@te, #Bangladeshi HackeR”. The motives are seems to be tied with something involving Bangladeshi workers in Malaysia.

Further investigation revealed that these hacking members are not Bangladeshi as they claimed. The first alias seemed to be pointing to Saudi Arabia hackers.

The second alias still points to somewhere in the middle east, Algeria.

My best guess is that this is tied to the recent General Election 13 in Malaysia where the opposition blindly accused of  the government flying 40,000 voters in to fake votes; up until now, there is still no evidence of mass Bangladeshi voters, voted during the GE13 and no petition has been filed by the opposition.

Maybe these people are just trying to help the “rakyat” but was blinded by the fact that it just a fabrication of lie instead and they are influenced, they think that they are doing the right thing.

Conclusion is that this hack has no tie to any Bangladeshi at all!

Update:

Further investigation shows that they are using DNS poisoning instead of defacing the website itself. How this works is that they somehow poisoned the DNS server to redirect several ‘.my’ domain to their own server.

Update:
More ‘.my’ domains are being redirected or unreachable at the moment including:

http://www.bing.com.my/ [unreachable]

http://google.com.my/ [unreachable]

http://www.msn.com.my/ [unreachable]

http://microsoft.com.my/ [redirected]

http://www.skype.com.my/ [redirected]

http://www.kaspersky.com.my/  [redirected]

Update:

Further investigation revealed that there are traces of “Bahasa” in their source code. Does this mean that we are attacking our own country posing as Bangladeshi and Middle East at the same time?

Update:

It seem that this attack is deeper than we initially thought. MYNIC has been compromised. Even if you use different DNS servers, the redirects has been hard hacked into MYNIC’s records.
