ASUS OLED family

Dell has launched a brand new member of the XPS desktop series that includes an uncommon element for the professional scene but a staple in the DIY building market – liquid cooling.

Right off the bucket lists is the increased size of 27L vs the 19L by its predecessor which could be unwelcomed in an office deployment where spacing constraints are a real issue, the XPS 8950 compensates back with high-performance internals that can be configured to equip up to the Intel Core i9-12900K with a flagship GPU either from NVIDIA (GeForce RTX 3090) or AMD (Radeon RX 6900 XT). Due to the new CPU and chipset from Intel, the accompanying RAM uses the new DDR5 technology as well as PCIe 5.0 support, despite there being none in the market right now but hey, futureproofing is an important aspect in company budgeting.

The interesting part of the machine is the available option of substituting standard air coolers with a liquid AIO one, developed in-house by Dell. Coupled with the 5,000RPM fans and the design of the chassis allowing air to go in from the front and come out through the back, the XPS 8950 is capable of achieving consistent thermal removal performance while staying relatively quiet. Due to the liquid AIO being optional, users can still opt-in for the normal air cooler if they desire.

The Night Sky colored XPS 8950 desktop will pop into the Malaysian market starting December 2021 with a base price tag of RM5,999 and can be configured according to the user’s requirement.
