This is something interesting. We have a hands-on session with the Xiaomi Mi A2 and I have to say – the Mi A2 is certainly not a phone to mess with. It improves upon what the Mi A1 already has – and all of it are good.
Let’s start with the list of specs. Again, it’s not something to mess with.
- 5.99-inch 18:9 LTPS IPS LCD display with 1080×2160 pixels
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset
- Octa-core processor with 4x Kyro 260 @ 1.8GHz + 4x Kyro 260 @ 2.2GHz
- Adreno 512 GPU
- 4GB or 6GB LPDDR4X RAM
- 64GB or 128GB storage
- Rear-facing cameras
- 12MP Sony IMX486 sensor; 1.25µm with f/1.75
- 20MP Sony IMX376 sensor; Super Pixel with f/1.75 (for low-light photography)
- Selfie camera
- 20MP f/2.2 with AI portrait selfie
- 3,010mAh battery
- Powered by Android One
From what we have experienced, the Snapdragon 660 chipset that was in the Nokia 7 Plus that we reviewed here is quite powerful and you can play most of the games like PUBG and Honkai Impact 3 without any issues.
From a quick hands-on session we have, the camera is looking pretty good. Both 12MP and 20MP rear-facing cameras are actually used, whereas the Super Pixel is touted as the camera for low-light photography. Upon a quick switch to the manual mode, we found out that you can actually take pictures using the 12MP or 20MP camera. Both of them works in manual mode.
However, the manual mode doesn’t allow shutter speed adjustment. Only the ISO and focus can be manually set.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 also comes with an IR blaster at the top, like its Redmi brethren.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 will be available 3rd August exclusively in Mi Store, KLCC first. For the first 200 customers, you will get a free SKII mask and tripod selfie stick. The Xiaomi Mi A2 will officially be available nationwide in all Mi Stores and on Lazada starting 4th August.
The price of the Xiaomi Mi A2 are available in Black, Gold, and Blue in Malaysia and the prices are:
- 4GB RAM + 64GB storage: RM999
- 6GB RAM + 128GB storage: RM1,199
