ASUS OLED family

A few weeks ago, we saw a brand new leak regarding TCL’s upcoming smartphone. It features a total of four cameras – two at the front, and two at the back. This is by far the single smartphone with the most cameras to date, and there’s a great reason too.

As far as we know now, the TCL 598 will be an upcoming smartphone by Flash. Based on the first leak, there are some spec leaks but nothing much to see physically. Now however, we have a few more sneaky shots of the Flash smartphone.

So far, this design seem to be finalized. There are two things that I’d like to point out regarding the design. Firstly, take a look at the flat back. Both cameras and the fingerprint sensor are embedded within the brushed metal back. That will most definitely avoid scratches, bumps, and nicks directly on the camera itself. Did we mention before that the dual-camera setup can have some really funky camera effects?

Secondly, the phone does have quite prominent curved edges on the sides of both ends – much like the Galaxy Note 5 and Note 7’s back. With that curved back, it should provide a more friendlier grip without the sides biting into my palm. Personally, I want to grab this smartphone to know how it feels on my hands.

A quick recap of what we know of this upcoming smartphone in terms of specs:

  • 13MP + 13MP rear-facing camera
  • 8MP + 5MP front-facing camera
  • 5.5-inch 1080p IPS screen
  • Android 6.0 Marshmallow
  • Helio X20 chipset with 10-core CPU
  • 4GB RAM and 64GB storage; also microSD card slot. Not sure if it’s a combo-SIM slot
  • 3,030mAh battery

From what we know now, the upcoming Flash smartphone will most likely be the successor of the Flash Plus 2, because of the similarities between both of them. The upcoming Flash smartphone does seem  like it’ll have brushed aluminium body too, but not sure if it’s removable like the original Flash Plus 2.

Maybe this time Flash can get their act together and market the inter-changeable metal back covers. This idea was a noble one on the Flash Plus 2. However, I was personally disappointed since no one actually sells those metal back covers.
