Grab is saying hello to the rural parts of Malaysia such as Mersing, Segamat, Cameron Highlands, Pantai Remis, and Baling. The main service which is GrabCar will start its operation from the end of September onwards while others such as GrabMart and GrabFood are planned for Q4 of this year.
Announced at the Desamall@Mersing by Minister of Rural Development Datuk Dr. Hj. Abd Latiff Ahmad, this is part of Grab’s effort to improve the income of rural communities where it is 41% less than urban communities through a series of digital transformation. Not only that, but Grab has also extended its “Pakej Pikul Bersama” initiative to include new driver-partners on the platform by providing one-off reimbursement up to RM 120 for their PSV licenses and RM 70 for initial PUSPAKOM vehicle inspections to help reduce the entry barrier for fellow newcomers.
The expansion is in line with the government’s mission to promote the digital economy while providing opportunities to Malaysians through technology and innovation. Additionally, it can provide an additional avenue for businesses to expand their customer base by tapping on the millions of Grab users.
Well, better for everyone that soon they will be able to order takeouts while staying at Cameron Highlands.
