Introducing, Samsung’s brand new TWS earbuds. Samsung seems to have caught a consistent rhythm on when to release a brand new TWS and avoid flooding the market with similar earbuds while still managing to improve on their existing already-good earbuds.
The Galaxy Buds2 Pro comes with a few characteristics that we want to highlight – and if you want to watch the video instead of reading this article, then watch the video below.
Galaxy Buds2 Pro
The overall case shape and size are identical to the previous generations – and I appreciate this since this means all of my current accessories will work with the new Galaxy Buds2 Pro.
I also realized that the texture on the case is kinda funky. It has friction like rubbery, texture like leather, but still feels soft to the touch. I have no idea what kind of magic Samsung did to create the feel, but I love it.
The new Galaxy Buds2 Pro is also available in a total of 3 different colors:
- Graphite
- White
- Bora Purple
One of the key highlight of the new Galaxy Buds2 Pro is its sound resolution. Samsung made a big bold claim that it is able to playback 24-bit audio files to create its own HiFi sound quality thanks to its new Samsung Seamless Codec HiFi. Yes, it is a proprietary codec for Samsung devices only – but if you are not using a Samsung device, it is still able to be connected using the usual AAC and SBC codecs.
This, unfortunately, is something that we cannot test because of hygiene issues and also due to not having access to any audio sources with 24-bit music to test it out.
What I want to highlight is the potential issue that comes with such high resolution audio. Since the bit number is higher, it means the bitrate of the audio will also be higher. The Bluetooth connection needs to cope with this higher bitrate audio and it has two ways to deal with it – either by increasing the buffer but also increasing the audio delay, or maximize the Bluetooth connection so much that it cannot have any connection drops.
That is still speculation as I am interested to know how the Samsung Seamless Codec HiFi is able to compress the audio without or with minimal audio quality loss.
Other than that, the earbuds still have the usual features like 360° audio to emulate a theater or auditorium, and also the advanced intelligent ANC mode that automatically changes to the ambient mode when voice is detected.
It is also able to swap its connection between all Samsung devices – so if you log in to your Samsung account on your smartphone, smartwatch, your laptop, and even TV – you can swap the connection seamlessly between all of those devices.
