Huawei Consumer Business Group had announced that they will have a long term partnership with Leica Camera AG yesterday in London. Huawei is one of the largest electronic manufacturer based in China. Recently, they had partnered with Google in releasing the new Nexus 6P. Aside from Nexus, they also made their own in-house smartphones like the new Mate 8.
Leica Camera AG is a well-known name in photography industry. They have been making camera as well as lenses for years, even before the digital era blooms. Despite the common reception that their cameras are pricey, it is a very well built camera. Their lenses also known as one of the sharpest lenses in the world, alongside its competitor Zeiss.
This partnership could lead to a new innovation in mobile photography. Given that Huawei is now starting to aim higher to the global market with their smartphones, partnering with Leica means that they will make something even awesome soon. Perhaps it could be top-notch smartphone like the Mate 8 with Leica lenses. We couldn’t wait to see what they will have in store for the coming years.
