Huawei is adding a new phone into their affordable Y series of smartphones. The new Y9 Prime comes with pretty good specs and all that for just the price of RM899.
One major highlight here is that the Huawei Y9 Prime also comes with a popup camera, thus making the screen having an amazingly huge screen-to-body ratio. Yet it also features a new chipset – the Kirin 710F.
As of now, we do not know any information about the Kirin 710F chipset yet, but Huawei is claiming that this new chipset is a “high-performance, low-powered” chipset. Everything else is as expected from a smartphone of this price range – 4GB RAM with 128GB of storage.
The Huawei Y9 Prime also comes with a relatively massive 6.59-inch IPS LCD screen with 2340×1080 pixels in resolution. Without a notch or a cutout for the selfie camera, the screen is once again – very immersive and provides a great user experience. This is especially great for mobile gamers or movie watchers.
The popup camera houses a 16MP f/2.0 selfie camera, which is decent enough on paper.
As for the rear-facing cameras, you get two usable cameras besides the 2MP depth sensor that provides better bokeh pictures:
- Main: 16MP f/1.8 main camera
- Ultrawide: 8MP
To top it all off, the Huawei Y9 Prime also comes with a 4,000mAh battery. Huawei also retained the headphone jack this time around – hence making it a great smartphone for all sorts of use cases. Remember – the audio jack is still necessary, especially with gaming. Have a look at our Bluetooth audio delay experiment here.
