Some of you may have noticed that the market has been filled with these thin and sleek laptops that looked very much like the MacBook Air. They term those notebooks as Ultrabooks; new generation Notebook PCs that have no CD-Rom, measuring less than an inch thick while still maintain a 14 inch screen.

Intel has mandated guidelines to these ‘new generation’ of gadget. It’s a bane and also a boon. For one, it’s finally phasing out all those bulky, ugly, square and outdated looking machines that literally weights as much as a brick; replace them with more precise engineering with no nonsense features like WiDi, instant awake and low energy consumption.
But this guideline from Intel also sets all the machines across all makes homogeneously. From east to the west back to the east, Lenovo, HP, Dell, Fujitsu, Acer, ASUS you name it and they all have Ultrabooks. And this gets boring.

Where all are competing on the same ground, innovation and creativity will determine who comes out top. Adding salt to the wound, they are all using the same operating system – Windows. How are they going to differentiate themselves?
The true beneficiary here is only Intel, where everyone will be using their processor; alienating AMD, Qualcomm and the rest. Intel will not be Noah, bringing salvation to those who board his Arc but rather the flood bringer, submerging its competition.
