iQOO has just launched the latest iQOO 16 flagship gaming smartphone, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Mobile Platform and the world’s first 2K 165Hz Samsung Everest Display. Let’s check out what it has to offer.
For starters, the iQOO 16 boasts the world’s first 2K 165Hz Samsung Everest Display, developed jointly with Samsung Display and using Samsung’s M16 emissive material and 2K LEAD 2.0 technology.
It offers a 2,800-nit global peak brightness while consuming 31% less power than a same-sized 1.5K panel. The display supports 165Hz in over 100 apps and 50+ games, with iQOO’s Q-flex control technology, first-frame brightness ratio of up to 100%, and in-house frame synchronization helping reduce touch latency and motion blur.
At the core of iQOO 16 is the “3+2 Gaming Technology Framework”, combining graphics, controls and tuning with cross-device gaming and live streaming. The phone also marks iQOO’s mobile gaming partnership with Unreal Engine, integrating technologies from Unreal Engine 5, including Lumen and Nanite, into its software and hardware development.
In terms of graphics, the in-house Q4 esports chip delivers 15% higher performance, 19% faster cache speeds, and 19% more AI computing power. It supports full-scene ray tracing, game super resolution and frame interpolation simultaneously, while the virtual point light technology brings console-style off-screen lighting calculations to mobile gaming.
Furthermore, the smartphone pairs the 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 with LPDDR5X Ultra Pro RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, supported by an 8.5K Ice Dome VC liquid-cooling system. Its Monster Core Engine uses an in-house kernel-level scheduler to optimize resource allocation for more stable frame rates and lower power consumption.
The iQOO 16 introduces PC-level control optimization to mobile gaming with Q-flex, an industry-first technology integrated directly into the game-rendering pipeline. By synchronizing frame production with system processing, it reduces touch latency while providing more consistent and precise responses.
Design-wise, it adopts an “Exploration and Excellence” design theme and comes in Chasing Light, Legend, and Track colorways. Notably, the Chasing Light variant uses AG glass with a laser holographic imaging process that creates a three-dimensional rear pattern, complemented by the Tomorrow Porthole camera module housing three lenses beneath transparent glass.
For photography, the smartphone packs a 50MP 1/1.3-inch main sensor with 79% greater light capture, CIPA 5.5 professional stabilization, the NICE 3.0 optical reconstruction engine, and vivo’s Ultra-Light HDR technology. It is joined by a 50MP Sony super periscope telephoto camera and 50MP low-distortion ultrawide camera, alongside new Bright Portrait Rim Light and Bright Tone Diffused Light effects and 4K Live support.
Running on the new OriginOS 7, the iQOO 16 packs an 8,400mAh Blue Ocean battery with 100W wired FlashCharge and 40W wireless charging. Other features include Esports Network System 3.0, N79 band support, a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, Warhammer MAX dual-axis motor, Drum Master Pro symmetrical dual speakers, and IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance.
That being said, the new iQOO 16 is expected to arrive in Malaysia in November 2026 and will be available in four configurations: 12GB+256GB, 12GB+512GB, 16GB+512GB, and 16GB+1TB.
