Stated in an official blog post, CEO and co-founder Choong Fui Yu, has elaborated that the decision to shut down the business is wholly caused by the COVID-19 pandemic that cuts off basically any forms of interaction between people and what do you know, home services require people to move between houses which is a big no-no and mandate issued during the MCO period have caused Kaodim to suffered a lot financially.

Another key problem lies within the pricing itself where Facebookers found out that the services available on Kaodim are relatively more expensive than similar offerings by other offline providers. With less revenue coming off, of course, the business is going to slumber.

According to others, many people think that the services are far too general to be considered as a lot of them, especially those with heavy ties with their respective local community, can easily get handymen or customized services without relying on a 3rd-party service.

As for settlements, the company has stated that obligations to employees will be fulfilled completely in the form of severance pay and official notice. In regards to potential privacy issues like customer and employee data, the recently updated FAQ page has clear words written in black and white – all registered data and accounts, including clients and employees, will be wiped clean after June 30.

In short, if one thing occurs, some are bound to be winners while the others are going to lose out and it just so happened to be COVID-19 making the life of Kaodim worse than it already was and subsequently fading out of business.
