So, Kingston is still sitting comfortably at the top when it comes to third-party DRAM module suppliers, according to TrendForce which just released its latest revenue rankings, and the big K once again took the number one spot with a massive 66% market share, marking 22 straight years of dominance.
What’s interesting is that overall DRAM module sales went up 7% year-over-year in 2024, bouncing back after that rough 28% drop in 2023. Even though consumer demand slowed down in the second half of the year, Kingston held strong. In fact, the top five memory module companies made up about 81% of all sales, but Kingston alone led by a huge margin, with the second-place brand trailing far behind at just 5%.
TrendForce also pointed out that by late 2023, DRAM suppliers had started focusing more on high-bandwidth memory (HBM) and server-grade DDR5, which caused a supply squeeze for other types of DRAM and pushed prices up. This led module makers to stock up, driving total market revenue to $13.3 billion for 2024. But by the end of the year, those higher prices began to curb demand a bit.
Product-wise, Kingston didn’t slow down either. It released a sleek racecar-inspired Kingston FURY Renegade DDR5 RGB Limited Edition running at 8000MT/s for extreme overclocking, plus new Kingston FURY Renegade DDR5 CUDIMMs that work with Intel’s 800-series chipset.
As Kingston put it, “The 2024 findings from TrendForce reflect the company’s ongoing strength and adaptability in the face of yet another demanding business year.” The company added that this milestone reinforces its dominance and resilience as it celebrates holding the number one position for 22 years in a row.
