Hybrid work and daily lifestyle are gradually moving towards touch-based inputs to enable a better and more intuitive consumer experience and that’s why Lenovo’s MWC 2022 announcement revolves around the IdeaPad Flex and Duet series Windows/ Chromebook devices with touch input support.
Debuting first in the new lineup is the 2022 IdeaPad Flex 5 and 5i convertible laptop that rocks the latest 12th Gen Intel Core i7 U-series mobile CPU with Iris Xe MAX graphics or the AMD Ryzen 7 with Radeon graphics that delivers super-efficient performance with day-long battery life, allowing users to use the device in multiple modes such as the traditional laptop, tablet, or stand to tent mode powered by the 360-degree drop-down hinge for an easy screen-spinning gesture.
Available in sizes of 14-inch and 16-inch, the up to 2.8K 16:10 display on offer with an OLED option rated for 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage offers crystal clear image quality and excellent color accuracy hosted within a chassis that has a few grams shaved off the total weight to become lighter than before. Wrapped with an FHD webcam and noise-canceling microphone and you get a device capable of doing a lot of things.
If you tilt the balance of the tablet vs laptop towards the former side, the IdeaPad Duet 5i is designed for that spectrum. Debuted as the latest 12-inch consumer detachable laptop running Windows 11 out of the box which Microsoft heavily emphasizes on tablet-optimized interfaces, by the way, the nature of not being confined within the conventional form factor means users can literally treat it as a fully functional Windows PC but use it as an Android device. If you don’t want fingerprints ruining the screen, the bundled Bluetooth keyboard and optional Active Pen 3 will do the job as good as your hand. Under the hood is a 12th Gen Intel Core i7 processor powering a 2.5K IPS touchscreen display in taller 16:10 format with 96 percent DCI-P3 color gamut and 450 nits brightness offering immersive entertainment experiences.
Lenovo is also not forgetting the Chromebook department by introducing new devices based on the Flex 5i, Flex 3i, and Duet 3 designs, ushering the incredible price to performance value bumped by similar offerings in recent years. Each and every one of them utilizes a different class of mobile processors with the most interesting one being the Duet 3 powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 Compute Platform chip that is super thin and cool with zero fans needed for getting the most used time without overheating. The range of I/O is subjective but they are in the “just enough” borderline comprising of USB-A and USB-C ports. Otherwise, the entire experience is leveraged by how well Chrome OS is performing, practically speaking.
In any case, there’s a whole list of spec sheets waiting for you to take a deep dive into what’s sort of computing components are in there.
