Well, what can I say? HTC has been under the weather with big grey clouds above their parade. It’s just amazing that they can even launch their new marketing campaign with such a heavy budget, but it’s already looking horrible now. It is reported however that HTC is in discussion with Lenovo about its acquisition.
HTC, being a company that made great smartphones – and still does – will have to change their strategy as they are just not that effective anymore. Lenovo on the other hand, is a newcomer to the smartphone market but is already making great smartphones with a much reasonable price.
If the acquisition goes well, then HTC will be under Lenovo no quicker than the first half of 2014. This acquisition might mean two things – either Lenovo merges the entire HTC to themselves, or operate separately with ideas sharing between each other. I personally am hoping for the latter, as that will certainly give us the best of both worlds.
HTC isn’t looking good on its own either. They just reported a quarterly loss and the HTC One’s sales aren’t exactly what HTC is hoping to be either. The forthcoming HTC One Max might be something. With the current leaks, it looks as though it will be something that will just slip through the cracks.
