Maxis, as the “Team Green” in the telco world for Malaysia, is now rolling out its Home Solar subscription service across all of Peninsular Malaysia. They actually launched it quietly in the Klang Valley back in late 2024, and apparently, the response was solid enough that they’re ready to take it nationwide starting May 2025.

As one of the ways to diversify its investment and offering aside from the telecommunication business, they want to make green energy easier to adopt so that not only existing customers but even non-Maxis users can sign up without touching anything on “signing up for internet” and whatnot.

People who sign up can start saving up to 25% on electricity bills (probably, since it is highly subjective, be sure to do your own research), and since energy costs keep climbing, that protection could be a big deal long term.

To start, you’ll shell out RM1,000 upfront, and after that, it’s a monthly subscription that pays for all of the things, including solar panels, inverters, installation, maintenance, and 24/7 customer support. As for how much will be billed for the monthly payment, it is either fixed or flexible based on the energy generated.

If anything goes haywire, users are protected by a solid 10-year warranty and insurance for peace of mind, in addition to helping you handle various government applications.

So if you’ve been thinking about going solar but didn’t want the hassle, this might be one of the easiest ways to jump in, and Maxis has all the info up here.
