We’ve seen numerous hacks and database leaks in 2022 and one would think the year would end without one happening again. But wrong here’s another round.

After June’s JPN and MySejahtera breach followed by last month’s real-time cyberattack involving AirAsia, the victims this time includes multiple organizations with the prominent subjects being Maybank, TM, and Astro, just to name a few.

Following SoyaCincau‘s report, the user who opened the “WTS” thread showed off screenshots of alleged records in pure strings which are comprehensible and easy to identify without prior need for database knowledge.

While Maybank and Astro records are focusing on the customer side, TM’s Unifi Mobile is a mixed bag of client info and backend access which is far worse than a simple transaction record leak. Referencing lowyat.net’s image, the hacker just wants USD850 which is kinda low for an actual admin credential.

Of course, with this much hassle generated among social media platforms, Fahmi Fadzil, our new Communications, and Digital Minister, quickly announced that he has notified MCMC to quickly ban access to the website that hosts the leaked database.

He also mentioned Astro and TM are also working internally to verify the records to generate proper feedback on the issue.

However, Maybank has officially responded to the matter and claims that the data leak is false and no breaches have been detected.

PSA from us, if you’re scared of being one of the entries within those records, quickly swap out any passwords with a new one on all affected platforms that you may have used currently or in the past.
