Facebook Messenger is one of the most used instant messaging platform. If you use Facebook, then it’s almost guaranteed that you’ve used Facebook Messenger before. While the iOS and Android app have done their jobs relatively well alongside frequent updates and even Dark Mode, the browser version only occasionally receive UI overhauls without core function changes while being flooded with bugs too.

It all changes from now as Facebook has released a dedicated Messenger app for both Windows and macOS devices. It is such a pleasing move from the developers since the majority of users who uses Whatsapp or Telegram prefer them due to the standalone design while minimizing resource consumption (Chrome: munch munch munch).

No more opening browser just for chatting

With the new desktop app, everything you experience with the browser version gets amplified. Group video calls will have larger screen estate than ever and all chats are synced across all connected devices. It is also easily accessible since you don’t need to switch tabs to chat anymore. Fan-favorite Dark Mode and GIFs are fully supported as well, so you will not miss out on all the funny memes and reaction clips to roast your besties.

The Messenger Desktop app is now readily available on Microsoft Store and Mac App Store. For now, no news for standalone install package is available so Windows 7 users won’t be able to enjoy this one. It’s time to upgrade from Windows 7 anyway, so here’s another reason for you to do so.
