Back in 2015, Microsoft deployed an experimental cloud server weighing 17,200 KG into the ocean. The server has about 300 desktop pc equivalent computing power. Microsoft hopes to rethink or reinvent data centers to be more energy efficient and faster to accommodate our ever going digital civilization. Especially when Moore’s Law was at a declining rate recently, scientists and engineers are trying to find ways to keep the momentum going.
