Let’s take a look at this new MateBook 14s from HUAWEI. The company has taken a step towards integrating all of its products to work with each other, creating an ecosystem of fully connected and intelligent devices. The company calls this the Seamless AI Life strategy.

This new HUAWEI MateBook 14s seeks to complement that Seamless AI Life while offering an all-rounder performance, suitable for business professionals and power users alike.

There are a lot of key highlights about the MateBook 14s. Of course, we have to talk about the screen – particularly the aspect ratio first. This HUAWEI MateBook 14s is one of the rare laptops that is using a 3:2 aspect ratio, which might sound weird at first – but it’s actually magnificent. For those who are dealing with two windows at once – like two Excel sheets or two Word documents – then open them side-by-side. This display can handle it.

This screen also comes with a 90% screen-to-body ratio, which makes sure that you’re getting the most compact form factor ever. Also, the MateBook 14s is using a touchscreen.

Coupled with the 2.5K resolution (2520×1680), texts will appear really sharp with that 213 ppi. In addition, this laptop also comes with a 90Hz refresh rate screen too. But don’t be concerned about the battery life since the HUAWEI MateBook 14s is packed with Intel’s Display Refresh Rate Switching feature to intelligently switch the refresh rate to 60Hz while on battery for the maximum battery life.

And when the battery is low, you can quickly top it off with the 90W HUAWEI SuperCharge charger and get 3 hours of work with just a 15-minute charging session. This charging brick is also tiny, so you can bring it along with you on a trip easily.

And in terms of performance, the HUAWEI MateBook 14s comes in two different variants – either with the Intel Core i5-11300H or the Intel Core i7-11370H. Yes, these are H-series processors which means you’ll be getting really high levels of CPU performance. These two H-series processors are also using the Intel Iris Xe Graphics too – so expect a great level of graphical performance as well.

Of course, the audio department is no slouch either. Featuring 4x speakers that are powered by HUAWEI SOUND, and 4x microphones that are placed along the edges of the laptop, the HUAWEI MateBook 14s can pick up voice from up to 5 meters away. And HUAWEI also debuted a new feature called Personal Voice Enhancement whereby the laptop “recognizes” your voice and enhances your voice while suppressing noise.

To enhance HUAWEI’s vision of interconnected devices, we now have something called Mobile Apps Engine which is still in beta version. The MateBook 14s is the first laptop to have this feature, whereby the laptop can literally run mobile apps. You can use apps like TikTok, Grab, or even WeChat on the big screen. Maybe play a game of PUBG Mobile or COD Mobile on the laptop?

The HUAWEI Mobile Apps Engine (Beta version) will be available for registration this 19th November 2021.

One of the returning features is – of course – the HUAWEI Share multi-screen collaboration. If you own a HUAWEI phone or HUAWEI tablet, then you can literally use them as the secondary monitor, drag files to and from the two devices, or simply use your HUAWEI phone or tablet on the MateBook 14s.
