The robot vacuum market has seen immense growth in recent years thanks to the various technologies that power the little round guy has become more mature and cheaper to produce.
As such, the level of competition in the scene is pretty harsh as buyers are really weighing every factor they come across including the feature set, the level of “smartness” of the algorithm, the form factor, and ultimately, the price. That is why this robot vacuum gets our most recommended award.
That being said, we at NLT here are lucky to review one of the best robot vacuums we ever came across to date and we think that it deserves an award of some sort at least from us that we will recommend the most, and that’s the S7 MaxV Ultra from Roborock.
Let’s start with its name. The robot vacuum itself is actually just the ‘S7 MaxV’ while the Ultra means it is bundled with the dock that can perform auto-cleaning, auto-emptying, and water refill all by itself. Technically, the S7 MaxV can make do by itself with no problem but you’ll miss out on all these quality-of-life features that can save you so much time.
The robot vacuum also facilitates an easy maintenance routine because a lot of the consumable parts will deteriorate from daily wear and tear such as the HEPA filter, roller brush, sweepers, you name it – and swapping them out for a new one is pretty straightforward and not troublesome too.
The algorithm powering the brain of the S7 MaxV is the ReactiveAI 2.0 which combines the software with the PreciSense LiDAR navigation system mapping its surrounding in full 3D and high-accuracy object detection through its RGB camera and 3D scanner. This results in it being capable of avoiding most obstacles in its way during its cleaning routine.
We also appreciate its special sauce in terms of being able to clean both the flooring and carpet at the same time through its smart mop-lifting function. Of course, its VibraRise sonic vibration mopping tech can go as fast as 3,000 scrubs per minute dedicated to the toughest stain and dust layers to then be sucked in by the powerful 5100Pa suction compartment.
Also, you can shout at your doggo via your smartphone and the app if they keep bothering and slowing down the little robot. However, whether your dog recognizes your voice through the speaker is fully subjective though.
Although a common feature found in most similar offerings, you can use the Xiaomi Home app to set up various different zones such as priority space for extensive cleaning, no-go zones so that they don’t interfere with your personal time, and even virtual walls if you desire.
Trained with a large number of data sets, the 3D mapping mentioned earlier contributes to the generation of your house’s layout and it is smart enough to know and label what sort of space they are entering such as the living room, kitchen, bedroom, and more.
And from our testing and review, the S7 MaxV behaves pretty much up to our expectations and standards such as self-avoiding obstacles and times that it bumps into walls are pretty much little to none.
And yes, it won’t take the leap of faith and just fall down the stairs if you live in a multi-story household so no worries.
Conclusion
At the end of the day, the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra just checks so many of our boxes of a good robot vacuum that is both worth its price and worth the experience of having a smart little cleaner running around the house to keep your place clean and refreshed. As such, we named it the Most Recommended Robot Vacuum of 2022.
We have also reviewed the Roborock S7 MaxV (without the dock) and I love the robot vacuum for its advanced features, and it is also very easy to clean and maintain to keep it running for years to come.
