Let me first start by saying this. The Moto G-series of smartphones were largely successful budget-oriented smartphones since its inception. As the series of smartphones evolved over the years, they now present to us the all new Moto G5 Plus. It’s actually stylized as the Moto G5 Plus – with a superscripted number 5, but we’re going with the usual Moto G5 Plus instead with no superscripting instead.
Firstly, the Moto G5 Plus is priced at RM1,299, as stated in the title. This is an interesting price point, as it is now pretty much vacant for the latest generation of smartphones – and I’m glad that the Moto G5 Plus is the one occupying this slot.
The Moto G5 Plus is a somewhat modest in size, as it sports a 5.2-inch IPS display with 1080p resolution. In terms of camera, that humongous circle behind the phone protects a 12MP dual-autofocus pixel (I presume it to be dual pixel PDAF) sensor with an f/1.7 aperture lens. There’s also a 5MP f/2.2 aperture selfie camera.
It comes with a Snapdragon 625 chipset with 2.0GHz octa-core processor with Adreno 506 GPU. If you don’t already know, I absolutely love the Snapdragon 625 chipset for its power efficiency. Just check out our review of both the ASUS ZenFone 3 and the ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom, where they both use the Snapdragon 625 chipset to achieve unreal battery life. It even comes with a 3,000mAh battery and their own TurboPower charging to achieve “six hours of battery life in just 15 minutes of charging”, according to what I suppose to be Lenovo now since they acquired Motorola’s mobile division.
Coupled with 4GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and another microSD card slot, the Moto G5 Plus is a compelling offer.
The all new Moto G5 Plus both Lunar Gray and Fine Gold color, and you can pre-order it now until 4th June 2017. It will be exclusively for Lazada only as of now. Units will start to be delivered starting 5th June 2017.
