Earlier this month, NASA has allocated some of it’s budget for a prototype 3D Food Printer that has printed a bar of chocolate and soon to print out a pizza. Billions of dollars has already been invested by not only NASA but a few other private organization for a mission to Mars.

One of the challenges was to figure out on how to feed the Mars colony. NASA has granted $125,000 USD grant to a mechanical engineer at Systems and Materials Research Corporation in Austin as one of the primary challenge is to make the food material last for at least 15 years, and a brilliant engineer has come up with the idea of printing the food out of dried powder which he predicts that it could last up to 30 years.

With that kind of shelf life, astronauts could enjoy plenty of pizza on Mars instead of eating some home grown hydroponic tomatoes given that they will send 4 person every two years along with supplies and tools, as planned by the private space organization, Mars One.

So, if you are interested to me one of the first human being to colonize Mars and be a part of history, head down to the Mars One website and apply today! We would definitely love to see a Malaysian-Mars astronaut enjoying pizza in space 😀
