Imagine you have a gun and two feet. Now load your gun with a bullet and shoot your right foot.
That’s how it felt when Microsoft announced yesterday that Windows Phone 8 will only support new devices. Whlist the intent was to ensure hardware support for its new version of WP, you can’t stop the early adopters from feeling betrayed.
The Nokia Lumia 900 which was just launched is now obsolete. Existing WP devices will not see the light of WP8 but rather be given WP7.8, which could very well be its last supper.
Infiniti Blade on iOS. Perhaps we’ll see Diablo III on WP
Microsoft promises better integration with its Windows OS platform by using the same programming language. In English, this means WP8 is no longer a distant cousin but a smaller sibling of its full grown Windows 8. Apps will be able to be ported more direct (using Direct X which is same in iOS and Android) and is promised a better software experience. Ambitious yes, and I wish them good luck. Knowing Microsoft, we know they need it.

I just bought a lumia 900 for my son two weeks ago. He seems happy with it, but he’s not a power user.
