Last week, OPPO Malaysia officially teased the upcoming Find N5 smartphone touted to be the slimmest foldable device it has ever crafted.
Aside from setting a new standard and benchmark in mobile innovation through cutting-edge engineering via user-focused refinements, OPPO actually talked about various aspects of the phone via some “well-timed” social media leaks.
Here we have several to share with you to help you catch up with the news.

Who can say no to some legit source none other than OPPO’s own Chief Product Officer Pete Lau himself and he talked about the Find N5 utilized over 20 new materials across 30 key components for a lighter yet more robust structure that doesn’t compromise durability which the discussion from the community was centered on as well.
Titanium-infused strength
On the other hand, OPPO’s RedNote a.k.a XiaoHongShu account showcased the use of a titanium frame for the Find N5 contributing to the previously mentioned durability and lightness to achieve such an ultra-slim profile.
A foldable that withstands the elements
A couple of days later, they followed up with the announcement of superior water-resistant ratings of IPX6 + IPX8 + IPX9 that guard against accidental spills, unexpected downpours, or even momentary moments of high-pressure water jets.
Such combinations are unheard of and are delivered to a foldable smartphone for the very first time via the Find N5, further highlighting OPPO’s engineering prowess.
Powering productivity with cutting-edge charging
OPPO has always been known for its dedication to powering its devices with fast and stable charging technology, namely the SuperVOOC standard.
However, in order to keep the Find N5 slim yet packed with more battery capacity, they have utilized a new method which they are keeping a secret for now. However, 50W wireless charging has been confirmed which means lightning-fast charging without the hassle of cables, further cementing OPPO’s commitment to user-centric innovation.
Speaking of batteries, one of the latest market reports by Canalys has highlighted the challenges of balancing slim design with battery life. As foldables evolve, their thickness has been reduced from 15-17mm in 2019 to 9-10mm in 2024, yet they still lag behind flagship bar smartphones, which typically measure between 7mm and 8mm.
Yet “The Last Millimeter” is the key barrier here with manufacturers transitioning from traditional casting and metal powders to advanced materials like titanium alloys and 3D printing. The hinge mechanism has also been refined, reducing the number of components and decreasing thickness from 3mm to just 2mm. However, this progress comes with a trade-off of larger displays consuming more power, while the push for slimmer designs limits battery capacity.
With the upcoming OPPO Find N5, the brand is positioned at the forefront of this evolution. OPPO has been leading the charge in book-style foldable innovation, and the Find N5 is expected to push the boundaries of thinness, potentially approaching the critical 8mm milestone. By addressing both design and battery efficiency challenges, OPPO aims to redefine consumer expectations and accelerate the adoption of foldable smartphones.
The ultimate foldable experience awaits
With its slimmest profile, titanium-infused durability, water-resistant design, and cutting-edge charging, the OPPO Find N5 is redefining what a foldable phone can be.
Stay tuned as OPPO unveils the Find N5 at its global launch event and be among the first to witness the future of foldables.
