The OPPO Find X is finally here in Malaysia – and the price is out! For RM3,699, this is definitely the most expensive Android smartphone with Snapdragon 845 in the Malaysian market right now.
The OPPO Find X is actually a very solid phone with premium build quality and it is definitely sleek to hold. The camera pops out smoothly and the software does have some sort of Samsung Edge Lighting type of visual cue to tell you that the camera is popping out. Speaking of Samsung, the OPPO Find X’s curved glass does remind me of the Samsung Galaxy S and Note series of smartphones.
The OPPO Find X comes equipped with a few feature highlights – 6.4-inch 1080p OLED screen, 25MP selfie camera, 16MP+20MP dual rear-facing cameras (like many other smartphones), ColorOS 5.1, and obviously Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. Everything is powered by a 3,700mAh battery.
The cameras are hidden in the pop-up compartment with OPPO is calling it as “stealth 3D cameras”.
One thing to note is that the Find X does not have a fingerprint sensor. It relies solely on the front-facing camera for face unlocking.
The OPPO Find X has top-notch flagship specs – and the variant that Malaysia is getting is the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. It’s available in two colors – blue and purple.
But wait – there’s more. What about the Lamborghini edition? There was a unit shown here with the carbon fiber back too. It’s black, it’s stealthy – and best of all, it has something called Super VOOC.
The new Super VOOC is currently only available for the OPPO Find X Lamborghini Edition – which is ironic since the Lamborghini Edition is not coming to Malaysia – at least not so soon. The new Super VOOC can output a total of 10V 5A, summing up to 50W of power to your phone.
OPPO claims that Super VOOC can charge your OPPO Find X from 0% to 100% within around 40 minutes. The usual VOOC takes about 90 minutes, whereas the usual 5V 2A charger takes around 130 minutes. From our own testing about smartphone chargers, we know that OPPO’s charging times for 5V 1A charger is way too exaggerated, but the 5V 2A charging time is pretty accurate.
Again as mentioned, we’re not sure if OPPO’s Super VOOC will come to other smartphones in the market. For now, it seems to be an exclusive technology for the Find X Lamborghini Edition.
As a side note, we saw a transparent-backed OPPO Find X as well. If OPPO is to sell a transparent OPPO Find X for RM3,699, I think it’ll be more interesting. We get to see how the camera moves as well.
