So at Google Cloud Next 2025, OPPO laid out a pretty ambitious vision in terms of investing and innovating on agentic AI technology.
Basically, they’re doubling down on becoming a major player in the field, but not just through their own R&D and instead, by teaming up closely with Google. Jason Liao, who heads up the OPPO Research Institute, summed it up by saying their top priority is to deliver the best AI experience possible, and they see partnerships, like the one with Google Cloud, as a big part of making that happen.
One of the big things they showed off was AI Search. It’s a system-level AI tool that works with natural language queries to help users dig through and retrieve complex, multimodal document info. So instead of just typing keywords, you can ask it something the way you’d talk, and it’ll find what you need. They also showed progress in three big AI categories of productivity, creativity, and imaging.
OPPO’s also looking ahead at what’s next, and it’s all about more personalized and intelligent experiences as they’re working on a new system to organize user data which is kind of like a smart personal hub that learns from how you use your phone, what you’re into, what you’ve done, and what matters to you. The goal is to tackle the messiness of scattered info across your device and start shaping an AI-powered OS that actually gets you.
On the privacy front, they’re not ignoring security concerns either. Earlier this year, they rolled out their Private Computing Cloud. That’s their way of making sure all the AI stuff happens in a super secure, isolated environment, with end-to-end encryption, thanks to Google Cloud’s Confidential Computing tech.
At the end of the day, OPPO’s trying to reshape how we interact with AI – whether it’s through creative tools, daily productivity, or personalized systems. They’re aiming to reach 100 million users with their AI by the end of 2025, so it looks like they’re all-in on making that future happen.
