When I first read this news, I was stunned. Pioneer – isn’t this the household brand name for audio-visual products? Yeah – that Pioneer with the bold, red, italicized font. They’re actually expanding into IT and consumer products, starting with their Pioneer APS-SL2 and APS-SM1 SSDs.
These two are internal SSDs with TLC NAND flash memory chips and SLC cache technology to achieve sequential read/write speeds of up to 500MB/s and 400MB/s respectively. They’re available in both 120GB and 240GB capacity variants.
As for the difference between these 2 SSDs, the Pioneer APS-SL2 is a 2.5-inch internal SSD with a 7mm thickness, so you can slot it into whatever laptop you have that supports a 2.5-inch internal drive SSD. Remember, some laptops can only support 7mm internal disks.
The Pioneer APS-SM1, on the other hand, is a M.2 2280 SATA SSD. It doesn’t have any heatsink, so it will fit into any laptops or motherboards that support M.2 2280 form factor SATA III SSDs without a hitch.

(Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) feature, garbage collection, and advanced LDPC error-correction capability to ensure data security and stability.
Pioneer’s Internal SSD Series products are backed by three-year limited warranty.
And apparently, Jayacom is already selling them. RM419 for the 240GB Pioneer APS-SL2, and RM409 for the 240GB Pioneer APS-SM1.
