There’s been a big phishing attack aimed directly on YouTube by spoofing a fake email that say it’s from YouTube and has an address link which is also to a secured YouTube link – but it’s hyperlinked.

The hyperlinked text brings you all the way to what looks like Google’s login page, but the address bar tells you that it’s from a server someone hosted privately.

If you do see some weird address link but it looks like Google’s login page, DO NOT ENTER YOUR USERNAME AND PASSWORD.

Minute Physics here made a very good overview of what and how this phishing works.

That’s the phishing site. Phishing, in short, is the act of stealing your information by disguising itself as if it’s the real deal.

Just think about how big of an impact this phisher has – once login details of your YouTube has been acquired, your entire Google account is at stake.

So please, be very careful of emails and remember to always look at the address bar.
