While Nokia is busy promoting its Lumia 900 (which in no sense, an ugly device), the Pureview 808 quietly slips into stores here. Available in black only at the moment, the 41-megapixel device is yours for RM1899.
I won’t dull you with my words since I haven’t got my hands on one, but baring any unforeseen circumstances, I will caress one, touch all its edges and get a deep breakdown review of this device.
For now, we know it has superior digital zoom that’s loseless in quality when operating within certain zoom range, in both camera and video. While exterior it looks more or less like an Xpress Music 5800, the 640 x 320 Clearblack AMOLED powered by a 1.3 ghz processor looks barely palatable.
Having used a Nokia n82 which was well known for its camera, I dare say a camera phone is indeed more useful in a sense that it’s mobile and constantly by your side. No situation is too sudden that you are not prepared to take a photo. That said, a phone nowadays is not complete without the ability to browse smoothly, guide you through the road, socialise with your friends and lastly, taking pictures. Calling and texting are a given and is secondary. Hopes are high and I do hope this will save Nokia from going under.
