There are way too many choices of wireless earbuds in the market today – but this one is something that I can wholeheartedly recommend. It’s the QCY MeloBuds Pro, a featureful pair of wireless earbuds at the price of under RM200 at the time of this review.

So, let’s take a look at the box first. It supports Hi-Res Audio Wireless, and also has LDAC support – which are great for more superior audio quality. There’s really nothing much at the back of the box except for the QR code to download the QCY app – which we’ll get to later.

I got the QCY MeloBuds Pro in the gold color – and in the box, we have the usual stuff like the user manual – which we’ll get into later, and also the different eartip sizes, alongside a USB-A to USB-C cable for charging.

Now, the earbuds itself has a fairly simple design. The case is in this glossy two-tone color. It has an indicator LED at the front to tell us the charging status alongside the battery, the USB-C port at the bottom, and also a pairing button beside it. Surprisingly, it can indeed stand up straight too.

Opening up the lid – which has a satisfying snap – reveals the earbuds themselves. The QCY MeloBuds Pro uses this stem design, which is arguably a better design for ANC because of the microphone’s physical distance separation.

The earbuds themselves have a fairly simple build too. It has a few holes for microphones, a vent at the top, and the eartips are easily removable too. I’m honestly okay with a simple design because it looks good and also it works. The touchpad is located on the touchpad – and we can do quite a lot of gestures on it.

And now is where the magic happens. The QCY app is honestly great. Once we launch the app, we can see the battery levels alongside what codecs are active. We can then top the Sound tab and start changing the equalizer. There are a few to choose from but we can also make our own. Eventually, this is the equalizer I’m using – but we’ll talk about it later.

We can also change the noise canceling mode and we also have two more levels of noise canceling within those modes. For example, if ANC is turned on, we can make it even more aggressive by using it in “commuting” mode. Within that mode, we can adjust how much more noise to cancel out. Does it make a difference? Yes, they absolutely do. You’ll have to experiment around and hear which setting suits your usage the most. Else, just use the adaptive noise cancelation. It’ll automatically detect whatever mode suits you best and change everything for you.

And by the way, the anti-wind noise works very well. I placed a fan beside my ears and it cancels out everything.

The last page of the settings menu is where we can change the gestures and the actions it performs. There are a lot of options available, so do whatever you want with it.

And we’ll skip down to the multiple modes we can further mess around with. We have gaming mode which cuts down on the audio latency – and here’s a graph to show you the difference. I’d say it’s better than many earbuds out there since the delay is below half a second, though not really good enough for gaming, especially action-intensive games that require precise audio and visual sync.

Then, we’ll skip ahead and talk about the dual-device connection first. This is a great feature because, as the name suggests, we can have two different devices connected to the same pair of earbuds. It will automatically connect to whichever device that has audio playing, and I know this feature is not new – it’s just surprising to see it here.

And finally, LDAC. Enabling LDAC means we have even better audio quality of up to 32 bits at 96kHz. If we disable it though, we can only get 16 bits at 44.1kHz. While it might seem like a good idea to just have LDAC enabled at all times, it is unfortunate that if we want to use dual-device connections, we have to turn off LDAC.

Enabling LDAC or not really depends on your usage because your audio files need to be really high quality to take advantage of the codec. For most cases like Spotify though, I don’t see a point to enable LDAC.

Anyway, how does the QCY MeloBuds Pro sound? By default I do think that they’re heavier on the bass side. It rumbles and thumps – and for many people, I think this sounds great on its default settings already.

We also changed it to the custom EQ, and to listen to all the recorded audio sample and comparison, watch our video at the top of this review.

Should you buy the QCY MeloBuds Pro?

Honestly, combined with the ANC capability, the QCY MeloBuds Pro is an amazing pair of wireless earbuds. I really love the app and the flexibility it provides – yet the battery life is also great. I was on a trip to Singapore recently and it had no problems lasting me for about 5 hours or so – and I am just amazed.

The price of the QCY MeloBuds Pro is also quite unbelievable. You can get one yourself for the price of RM199, though I did realize that the MeloBuds Pro is frequently on a slight discount.

As far as I know, it’s available in many different storefronts – and I’ll leave all the links down in the description below. Again, while it looks like a simple pair of wireless earbuds – it’s a great one.
