Back when the Galaxy Z Fold series had this special case, I said – hey, this is a fantastic case to increase the grip of the device while protecting the phone at the same time. So, I got my hands on one and after using it for some time, here’s a quick one to share my experience with you.
We’ll start with the unboxing. It’s rather straightforward here – the case itself alongside some instructions and what’s about it. Nothing extra is in the box.
I’ll say that this case is actually quite affordable. At RM169, some might say it’s expensive but for a first-party case, it’s okay. The quality of the silicone is also fantastic – which is also more durable than other cheap Shopee silicone cases.
It also protects the cameras since this case is indeed a whole lot thicker than the camera bumps too.
The best thing is of course the strap. It is a stretchy band that has a piece of silicone with some branding on it to provide even more comfort and also protect the stretchy band’s fabric.
I do have to add on that I am indeed a left-handed user, so my entire hand enters the strap and gets locks into place. Of course, using the device at such an angle is awkward but this is where the fantastic idea starts.
This strap hooks into two pegs at the inside of the case. On each side of the strap, there is another peg that we can use – hence we can select up to 3 different “sizes” depending on how big your hand is. I ended up using it on the “largest” size and it fits me well.
After loosening it, I can grip the phone and transition to “single hand usage” mode easily. The strap might get in the way if I want to hold it at the bottom left corner – but that’s because this case is made for right-handed users.
The strap itself will also add some thickness to the phone – so if you’re putting this phone with this Galaxy S23 Ultra Silicone Grip Case in your tight jeans pocket for example – you might encounter some problems.
There are lots of straps for you to choose from too. The default one is a big “S” branding but there are a lot more that you can choose from. Just release your current brand from the pegs and put in a new one.
With that said, I do worry about the durability of the silicone of this case. While I don’t think this black color will turn yellow, it will definitely have its corners sanded off and eventually become shiny, then show the inner structure.
With all of that said, I do think that this is a good case if you want a way to grip the phone. The strap offers a unique utility, and if it suits your use case, then I can recommend this case. There are lots of imitations out there but from my personal experience – the quality of the silicone is truly better on Samsung’s official cases.
