With COVID-19 and CMCO crashing together with this year throughout the entire Ramadan month, most Muslims are stuck inside their homes practicing social distancing instead. And while we appreciate those who continue to work outdoors, TikTok has brought 3 Raya-related initiatives to users for creating content about one of the biggest celebrations of Islam.

To kick things off, the 1st initiative #RamadanMubarak calls for the core values of Hari Raya where forgiveness and mutual support are spread during the blessed month, with a mix of social media this time around while showing what activities they have planned for the holidays.

The second initiative #KongsiKebaikan can be done in all sorts of ways to live up the spirit of giving back. One of the methods can be preserving the rich history of traditional arts and crafts by Malaysia. Aside from giving back, TikTok is collaborating with Kraftangan Malaysia via #KongsiKebaikan to exhibit the legacy of Malaysian crafts on the platform. A similar initiative in the future will take form as a competition, with 11 winners eligible to receive cash prizes.

Last but not least, the #Iftar initiative is not just about breaking fast but also to seek newfound appreciation for our daily sustenance and to strengthen our spiritual resolve holistically. Social distancing doesn’t mean that social ties need to be affected too as Colgate and TikTok are also encouraging users to share their #Iftar culinary delights with the rest of the world! After all, what is Ramadan’s smiles and laughter, most importantly food as us Malaysian loved the most?

This year’s Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri could be one of the most bizarre due to MCO and social distancing but social media has kept us as close as it is. With TikTok users growing as fast, expect more Raya related contents pop up as Eid Mubarak closes in.
