Razer. We saw something from them last year – the zGold-MOLPoints. It was done in collaboration with Berjaya Corporation Berhad, and Razer isn’t stopping there. Now, we have Razer Pay – a new mobile wallet (yes, another one) but done by Razer.
First off, yes, the Razer Pay is another mobile wallet system. Don’t click away just yet – because there are a lot of things and merchants already on board with Razer Pay.
Remember when we said that the Razer Pay is working closely with Berjaya Corporation Berhad, we mean that they’re actually in close partnership. Berjaya Corporation Berhad, if you don’t already know, owns a lot of the major retail chains and F&B branches in Malaysia. Starbucks and 7-Eleven in Malaysia are owned by Berjaya.
With this partnership means many places accept Razer Pay starting today. Let’s briefly run you through what’s the highlight here.
Firstly, there are a total of 2 different methods to top-up your Razer Pay account. You can visit any 7-Eleven store in Malaysia and buy a top-up pin. Just start the Razer Pay app on your iOS or Android device and enter the pin – then you’re done! You can also top-up through online banking with AmBank, Bank Islam, CIMB, Hong Leong Bank, Maybank, Public Bank, and RHB Bank.
Secondly, you can transfer money quickly too. Razer Pay gives you the convenience to just select which contact you want to transfer money to, select how much you want, and hit send. The money is instantaneously transferred to their Razer Pay account.
Thirdly, the ability to pay anywhere. Razer Pay is accepted in various places starting today. You can buy PIN codes for zGold-MOLPoints, Steam Wallet credits, Sony Playstation, Spotify, iflix, Astro NJOI – even buying top-ups for your prepaid telco like U Mobile, Digi, Maxis, Celcom, and many more. Of course, those are only for online transactions.
Over 6,000 brick and mortar stores are also accepting Razer Pay now. Brands like 7-Eleven, Starbucks, Singer, Cosway, Greyhound Cafe, Wendy’s, Kenny Rogers, Krispy Kreme, 99 Speedmart, Tealive, Thundermatch, Sweet Hut, and many more.
What about incentives? Razer is sponsoring everyone every single new Razer Pay accounts with RM10 bonus credits from today until 30th September 2018. Berjaya Corporation Berhad will be donating RM10 to Tabung Harapan for every transaction made via Razer Pay, capping at a maximum of RM5 mil.
We actually got a quick demonstration ourselves too. We registered a Razer Pay account and got a discount.
UPDATE: Within just a few days, Razer Pay has 500,000 new users!
Thank you for the amazing response, Malaysia! As of 9 Jul 2018, all RM10 in Bonus Credits for new sign-ups have been fully redeemed – in less than a week!
