realme Malaysia just announced that the company’s latest addition will not be the realme 6 Pro, but the realme 6i instead. The realme 6i is released only about 3 months after the realme 5i (which we have reviewed here), but it comes with a few notable changes.
Firstly, the realme 6i comes with a back that is designed by Naoto Fukasawa, and it comes in two distinct colors – White Milk and also Green Tea. Honestly, I do like the green tea color a lot, just not the briefcase shape.
As for the specs of the realme 6i, here they are:
- 6.5-inch IPS LCD screen
- 1600×720 pixels in resolution
- Waterdrop notch
- MediaTek Helio G80
- Up to 4GB RAM
- Up to 128GB RAM
- Triple rear-facing cameras
- Main: 48MP f/1.8 with PDAF
- Ultra-wide angle: 8MP f/2.3
- Macro: 2MP f/2.4
- Depth sensor
- 16MP f/2.0 selfie camera
- 5,000mAh battery
- Android 10 with realme UI
One thing to take note of is the lack of 5GHz WiFi, which proves to be an issue as 2.4GHz band is heavily congested and lacks the speed to take advantage of higher-speed internet.
The realme 6i is also the world’s first smartphone to be using the MediaTek Helio G80 chipset. It’s not realme‘s fault, but it’s only a matter of time before UL Benchmarks ban the relame 6i from its benchmark leaderboard. To learn more about it, click here. As for the availability of the realme 6i, it is available in a total of 2 different variants:
- 3GB RAM + 64GB storage @ RM699
- 4GB RAM + 128GB storage @ RM899
Aren’t we all still stuck with the RMO on 25th April 2020? 🤔
