In the sea of mid-range smartphones that we have already reviewed this year (we’re not even in June, by the way) and one of the most anticipated mid-range smartphone is the Samsung Galaxy A73 5G. It’s a great smartphone that I think everyone paid attention to its debut. This is indeed a fantastic phone, as shown in our review that you can watch below here.
Other than the great performance, fantastic display, and the amazing cameras – there are 3 things that I specifically want to highlight as to why the Galaxy A73 5G is a great choice if you want to purchase a new smartphone today.
The theme for today is “longevity” and here are the reasons why the Galaxy A73 5G will serve you a long time.
Performance + 5G
Let’s talk about the performance again. The performance coming out of the Galaxy A73 5G with the Snapdragon 778G chiset is amazing. We have tested it in our gaming test that even though we pushed the rendering resolution to its maximum and pushed the thermal limits via the “alternate game performance management” option, this phone just performed magnificently.
I am also happy to report that the temperature of the Galaxy A73 5G is kept well under the 45°C all the time, even though that night was a hot and humid one. I’m just impressed overall and I believe that this phone is able keep up with the highest-end games for at least a few more years to come.
With this level of performance alongside the inclusion of 5G, the Galaxy A73 5G will also be able to experience the blazing speeds of 5G when it is readily available to the public.
Great software update policy
I wholeheartedly believe that a device’s longevity is heavily dependent on the period of software support it gets. The Samsung Galaxy A73 5G is getting 4 generation of Android upgrades with 5 years of security patches – and that is exactly the same as the Galaxy S22 series of flagship smartphones too, which is unprecedented. Judging by my personal experience using Samsung phones for the past 4 years or so, they deliver updates at a timely manner.
I believe that having such a long term software support is beneficial for us customers as we can enjoy some (if not all) of the latest and greatest that the company has to offer. Combined with Samsung’s excellent One UI skin, it’s no surprise people like Samsung phones so much.
And that also means that we do not have to purchase new smartphones every time a new one is released, hence less e-waste in landfills and we can also save our money.
I also believe that it is always better to save some money to purchase something better rather than forcing ourselves to impulse buying whatever we can afford at that particular point in time.
IP67 rating
Tying back to the earlier points regarding the longevity of the device – having IP67 obviously increases the likelihood of a device to survive its expected maximum lifespan of 5 years. This IP-rating is also similar to the flagship smartphones.
IP67 isn’t even new to the Galaxy A series of smartphones, actually. Last year’s Galaxy A52, A72, and also A52s 5G had IP67 rating. I’m glad Samsung continued to provide IP67 rating to all their latest smarphones as I think it is a must-have these days.
Have you seen the absurd amount of rainfalls that result in floods within the past 6 months? How do you call for help if your tool of communication failed to work because of the water?
Conclusion
Yes, the Galaxy A73 5G is indeed expensive – as what we’ve noted in our full review. Though, I’d have to argue that with its price comes great quality in terms of hardware and software, creating a holistic experience that is user-friendly and also offers a good user experience.
I mean, I do expect the Galaxy A73 5G to last for years to come – just like its flagship counterparts.
