Xiaomi Malaysia is going to expand its portfolio by introducing the very first laptop under the Redmi branding. Welcome, the RedmiBook 15.
Redmi devices are always about the affordable pricing and the value they bring to the table and the RedmiBook 15 is no exception. So you might have expected that these are facing the direction of the ultrabooks but just a relatively cheap ultrabook at that, you’d be right.
Featuring 2 variants of running either the Intel Core i3-1115G4 with UHD Graphics or i5-11300H with Iris Xe Graphics, they are more than enough to tackle daily light tasks like Internet browsing, documentation, and simple entertainment like gaming and video watching. Both of them will have 8GB of DDR4 RAM while the storage numbers are fixed at 256GB for the i3 and 512GB for the i5 (An NVMe drive at that).
The screen is pretty decent as it is a 15.6-inch 1080p panel with anti-glare which is super useful for outdoors and utilizes DC dimming tech to remain flicker-free even at low brightness levels. Despite the 46Whr battery which is relatively small for something like a gaming laptop, the superior efficiency brought by Intel’s chip will make sure the device can run up to 10 hours.
Focusing on the I/O, it is considered as basic and standard as there are multiple USB-A 3.0s and an HDMI 1.4 while wireless connectivity includes dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. On the top, there’s the 720p camera with 2W stereo speakers situated below the chassis to get you to hop into video calls right away.
Pricing and Availability
The RedmiBook 15 will become available starting next Monday which is June 6 at the standard price of RM2,399 for the Core i3 model and RM2,799 for the Core i5 variant. To entice everyone to purchase early and enjoy the benefit, the price cuts will happen on launch until the end of this month which drops the numbers from RM2,399 to RM1,899 and RM2,799 to RM2,499.
Ah, there’s a free backpack to be claimed if you make your purchase at Xiaomi Authorized Stores. Easy as that.
