These sort of convertibles aren’t exactly new, and the prices of such products are really getting low these days. However the market for such niche products are pretty scarce (I’m a fan of such products) yet most of it have compromises that I personally don’t want to make at all.

Then comes the Acer One 10. Is this the convertible to get?

Let’s start off with the packaging. It’s simple, really. Presenting the Acer One 10 box right here.

Opening it up, you’ll find the tablet itself, and beneath the huge cardboard flap is where you’ll the keyboard dock itself.

At the side of that gigantic flap is where the power cord is located. Funny that they gave a jack-type power adapter instead of another method to charge the device – which I will show later.

Nothing beyond the ordinary here, though I wish Acer would take the ASUS path and maybe include a pouch for it.

First off, it’s rather thick and bulky, yet hefty for the tablet itself.

The Acer One 10 showed off some compromises through its design and materials chosen as the entire device is made out of plastic, most prominently is the keyboard dock itself.

The entire device isn’t heavy at all – weighing in less than 1.2kg, and has a number of ports on it too.

At the left side of the tablet comes the 3.5mm audio jack, a micro HDMI port, a microSD card slot, a micro USB port, and a power jack.

At the top is here the volume rocker and power button is located.

Acer has also generously included a full-size USB 2.0 port at the right side of the keyboard dock, though I wish that they included another port at the left side too. Hey – at least they did include one. It can even be charged by using that port itself, as the Acer One 10’s default charger with that jack thing only outputs 5V with 2A – and that’s quite common too. Just get an aftermarket smartphone charger that outputs 5V with 2A, but you’re not good to go obviously!

USB chargers rated at 5V with 2A doesn’t give a 100% of that, so it can prolong the battery life of the Acer One 10, but the battery will still be depleted.

What about turning the device off and charging it with a 5V, 2A charger? It will take a freaking long time to charge it to a full charge, and that’s the maximum power it can take. Bummer, but that’s a compromise.

To be honest, the Acer One 10 comes with quite a lot of compromise. Fully plastic built, having the hinge angle issues, 32GB eMMC, 1280×800 resolution, and that’s pretty much it. It’s still a fully-featured 2-in-1 device – also known as a convertible, for only RM999. That’s a real steal – not the movie though.

You can get one of these babies on Lazada too. Check it out here! Yes, it’s the official Acer
