Flagship smartphone cameras are excellent for vlogging days. The Galaxy S21 Ultra captures high-quality video at 4K 60fps via its selfie camera. While the built-in microphones are good, it’s still not that satisfactory.
That is why we have products like the Comica VS09. The one we have here is the Comica VS09 TC, whereby the TC stands for “Type-C”. There’s another MI version that has a Lightning port instead. They’ll both work the same – just the connection is different.

Unboxing the Comica VS09 reveals a few simple stuff. We have the usual documentation, the Comica VS09 microphone itself, a foam filter, and also a little leatherette pouch to store the microphone.
The Comica VS09 itself has a few features too – like a built-in indicator LED, a physical mute button, and also a 3.5mm audio jack for audio monitoring. It works really well!
But, my one complaint here is the rubber clamp thing surrounding the Type-C port. I mean, those clamps are useful as it securely holds the microphone in place – but it also means I have to remove my phone case to use the microphone. I do wish there’s a method to remove the rubber clamps so I can just plug it into my phone directly.
Also, the Comica VS09 microphone can be pointed to the front or the back. It has a hinge that allows us to just turn it around by 180°.
All in all, if you’re looking for a small, tiny microphone to be used for vlogging with your smartphone – then the Comica VS09 is literally made for you.
