We have received HONOR’s latest smart band, the HONOR Band 6 which is quite nice in itself in terms of looks and we’ll go through it briefly to see what it brings to the table. Also, the model that we got is the full black color – the one that never goes out of date.
The packaging is as simple as it is. Clean, clear descriptions of what it can do and what to be expected from it. I personally crave this form of design language.
Turning everything in the box out then you’ll have the standard device + charging cable + manual + warranty combo.
The screen is a 1.47-inch AMOLED panel running a 194×368 resolution which at this form factor is plenty enough with the text being easily readable and the colors being as vivid as possible. The device also has plenty of battery to run it for a good 3 weeks long on average in exchange for a choppy frame rate but what, you need 60fps for something designed to be looked at for 5 seconds every hour or so? Certainly not. And I prefer long battery life.
On the right side, a single flat button is there to let you access almost all of the features in one go if you’re lazy to slide past others to reach one of them or use it to wake the band up.
Simple HONOR logo on the strap, although the full black model does camouflage it to a certain degree. The strap is nice to touch and doesn’t go slippery when I’m sweating for that matter.
The charging mechanism is based on the snap-on magnetic port to USB-A used by some of the other brands around. Nothing wrong to be as cost-effective as possible when it is totally usable. However, due to the nature of being magnetic, it only snaps onto the band in one direction.
Similar to the majority of HONOR smartwatches and bands, you connect it through HUAWEI Health app, and the features such as watch face customization and notifications management can all be modified here.
Plenty of selections from simple time display to full dashboard types are available for download for free.
Conclusion
The HONOR Band 6 is positioned quite well as the deserved upgrade from the Band 5 that comes with a bigger screen and more features. Most importantly, at the price of RM189, I really liked the value and accessibility it brings to the table.
