At this point in time, I think it’s safe to assume that Bluetooth speakers are ubiquitous and most of us have one – or maybe more than one. Though the term “Bluetooth speaker” also includes large, home theater systems – we’re focusing only on a small Bluetooth speaker today – the Xiaomi Mi Compact Bluetooth Speaker 2.
Honestly speaking, this speaker has a mouthful of a name and I really hope Xiaomi will simplify its name in the future. With all that aside though, this speaker is rather simple to use and offers a rather unique proposition for its users.
This is a small little speaker that only has 2W worth of power in total – but this speaker is surprisingly good. It can be surprisingly loud – and the sound isn’t distorted too.
However, the speaker’s maximum volume is very loud for a large, silent room as it can fill it up with music without any issue. But then again, it’s only a small little speaker so I think this is beyond my expectations for its small little size here.
Let’s not forget that the sound quality is also considerably good here for the size of this little speaker.
There is also a power button at the bottom of the speaker. You can press it to play/pause music too, but cannot go previous or next track.
The Mi Compact Bluetooth Speaker 2 also has an indicator LED to tell you the status of the speaker itself. That LED hole is also where the microphone is found. Yes, you can have a phone conversation through the Mi Compact Bluetooth Speaker 2 itself!
If the LED blinks in blue but slowly, that means it has been paired and is currently playing music.
To enter pairing mode, it is the same as many other Bluetooth audio devices – turn off the Mi Compact Bluetooth Speaker 2 first, then press and hold the power button until the blue LED starts blinking quickly.
The price of this little speaker is only at around RM49 for its official price but you can get it for around RM45 if you know where to look. Sometimes, the price can drop even further down.
And by the way, there’s a lanyard loop so you can tie it up anywhere. Perhaps on your bagpack?
