Wait… Ugreen is has power banks now? Yeah – Ugreen approached us a while ago and asked if we can review their new power bank. We said – alright, sure. Show me what you got. And we’re fairly surprised. This is our review of the Ugreen 10,000mAh USB PD power bank (18W). Seriously though, Ugreen needs to work on its product naming scheme.
As the (lack of) name has stated, this is a USB PD power bank – and that’s quite rare. Yet it is only at RM79.99 on promotion now. Wow.
Unboxing
Looking at the box itself, the packaging is just… really basic. We have an image of the power bank itself at the front with the capacity stated.
At the back is where the specs are listed. From here, we can see that the model number is PB171 – which should have been the official name of this power bank – and it also has the list of output power.
Digging out everything reveals the bare minimums of a power bank – only the power bank and a short, flat USB-A to USB-C cable for charging. And yet again, we’re not going to use this cable.
Design
One of the best things about this Ugreen 10,000mAh USB PD power bank is the size. It’s actually really small. This power bank has a smaller footprint than the Galaxy S10+ (review)!
Though the glossy plastic housing isn’t my favorite It’s slippery, a fingerprint magnet, and also gets scratched easily. But then again, it’s not a big deal since it’s a power bank anyway.
There are also 4 LEDs to indicate the battery level, and I honestly prefer LEDs more than a screen to tell the battery level.
At the top is where we can find all the ports:
- USB-A: Input only, 9V/2A or 12V/1.5A
- USB-C: Both input and output, 9V/2A or 12V/1.5A
And this is where the differences start to appear when compared to the Tronsmart PB20. The Ugreen 10,000mAh USB PD power bank excludes micro USB entirely.
Charging performance
I’ll say, Ugreen has a pretty impressive power output here. It tops off at 18W, but it supports both USB PD standard and also Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0 and 4.0 standards. This means we can fast charge our smartphones quickly.
Once again, we chose the Xiaomi Mi 9 (review) as our smartphone of choice for this test. The result is once again, surprising.
The Ugreen 10,000mAh USB PD power bank can charge the Mi 9 close to the stock 18W charger’s speed. Also, it’s just much faster than a standard 5V 2A charger that most of us use.
Of course, to charge the Nintendo Switch, the Ugreen 10,000mAh USB PD power bank is excellent for this job. As stated on this website here, this power bank can charge the Switch quick as we play.
Wrapping up the Ugreen 10,000 USB PD power bank (18W)
This is a great power bank. It’s small in size, has 10,000mAh capacity, and most importantly – able to output a total of 18W power. I think we can also charge laptops that use USB PD standard despite its relatively low wattage.
Most importantly – the price. This power bank is only priced at RM79.99, and I think it’s quite affordable. Being so small, I can place it in my bag and forget about it. Then plug it into my Nintendo Switch when I need some power.

Though, you might want to get a pouch to protect the power bank from getting scratched up – if you care about its aesthetics, that is. Ugreen sells the power bank pouch too, by the way. 🤷♂️
