For those who are super techy, this is the one charger you’ll need. It can output a total of 300W through a total of 5 ports, 4 of them are USB-C ports and one is a USB-A port. It is also detached from the wall plug, so you can reposition it wherever you want on the table thanks to its rather long 2-meter cable.
Now, the charger itself is rather big and it’s extremely dense. That’s okay since we’re putting this on the tablet and it’s not meant to be a portable charger (even though you can do it).
While it can output a total of 300W, the highest power for one of the port is only 140W. Even though USB-PD 3.1 standard can go up to 240W via a single USB-C port, I can understand why Ugreen aims for 140W. You see, the highest-end MacBook Pro laptops powered by the Apple Silicon actually only require 140W. So if you want to charge your laptop with this charger, then just leave it plugged in to that USB-C1 port.
As for how the power is distributed, the first USB-C1 port will always get 140W no matter how many devices are plugged into the charger. That is why I’m saying it’s perfect for the MacBook Pro laptop.
How about the protocols supported? The first three USB-C ports support all USB-PD PPS with up to 3.3-21V at 5A, and support FCP, SCP, AFC, and SFCP. USB-C4 does not support USB-PD PPS, whereby the USB-A is very basic.
Unfortunately, this charger does not support OPPO, Vivo, Realme, Xiaomi, or any other proprietary fast-charging standards. That is due to those smartphone companies, not Ugreen’s problem. I really would just want every smartphone brand to adopt USB-PD since laptops are using USB-PD too. We talked about this in another video – watch it here.
And of course – this charger is not going to be cheap. It’s currently Ugreen’s flagship charger that can literally power up all devices I have and still be able to charge them fast. I can foresee this charger being able to “future-proof” all my charging needs for at least a few years to come. It will last even longer if smartphone brands adopt USB-PD.
By the way, there is also another 145W power bank from Ugreen that we showcased in the video too. I can finally extend the lifespan of the ROG ally by at least double.
