KUALA LUMPUR: Samsung launched the Samsung GALAXY Note 3 and GALAXY Gear here in Malaysia on Friday. The Samsung GALAXY Note 3 further excels Samsung as the innovative brand to watch. The GALAXY Gear is also the wearable technology that’s implemented as the perfect companion to your active lifestyle – with the Note 3 as the first GALAXY phone to fully support this accessory.
The highly anticipated GALAXY Note 3 spots a brand new design look. Unlike its predecessor, the Note 3 spots a soft and textured-touch back cover with delicate stitching. This elevated design mimics exquisite personal planners and this strong first impression speaks what this new product is meant to deliver.
Although the GALAXY Note 3 spots a 5.7 inch HD Super AMOLED display, it’s slim (8.3mm) and light (168g) with a longer lasting 3,200mAh battery. A 13MP rear camera with Smart Stabilization and high CRI LED flash delivers a new depth of clarity and detail to all your photos – even in low light and high speed scenarios. Zero Shutter Lag on the camera also means capturing your photos is now faster than a blink of an eye.
The Note 3 runs on LTE CAT 4 speeds (150/50Mbps) and 3GB ram; an indication of beefier performance and unparalleled multitasking and processing speeds. Samsung also reinvented the S Pen to include ‘Air Command’; a palette of five powerful features that make tasks easier and simpler. Action Memo, Scrapbook, Screen Write, S Finder and Pen Window brings forth a new level of productivity that has till recently been the imagination of men. This new palette alone is compelling enough to justify a Note 3 upgrade – but of course, it has to be delved deeper.
Some of the previous features from the Note also received a ‘bump’. Multi Window now toggles seamlessly across applications without closing or opening a new page, with content easily ‘dragged and dropped’ from one window into the other! This is as good as a ‘desktop’ experience that you can get from a ‘smartphone’.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is also comes fortified and secured with Samsung KNOX, an app that allow users to ‘lock critical applications’ from prying eyes. KNOX provides a secure environment that works well against malware, phishing and hacking. Overall, this new Note flagship is a serious performer, and coupled with the GALAXY Gear, it’s an even better duo.
According to Mr Kwon Jae Hoon, Managing Director of Samsung Malaysia Electronics (SME) Sdn Bhd, the Samsung GALAXY Gear “benefits consumers by integrating smart device technology even deeper into their everyday lives, and bridges the gap between the mobile device and fashion worlds to create truly wearable technology.”
The GALAXY Gear is worn on the wrist, but unlike an ordinary watch, the Gear displays the notification previews of your messages and emails from your phone. And it uses the Smart Relay feature that switches your phone screen to your notification content when you pull your phone out of the pocket. This provides a seamless functionality when transitioning from the watch to your phone.
Once connected via Bluetooth, the GALAXY Gear can be used to make and receive phone calls – utilizing the watch speakers located on the strap. While it is convenient to control your phone interactions through the GALAXY Gear, Samsung has assured that the Gear will initiate a locking mechanism once out of the 1.5 metre range of your phone.
Both the Samsung GALAXY Note 3 and GALAXY Gear are available now at RM 2,399 and RM 999 respectively. The phone is available in Jet Black and Classic White and comes with RM 1,500 worth of content in the Samsung GALAXY Lifestyle Rewards.
The GALAXY Gear is available in 6 stunning colours – Jet Black, Mocha Gray, Wild Orange, Oatmeal Beige, Rose Gold and Lime Green.
