Out of a sudden, Samsung is introducing a brand new service for Samsung Galaxy device customers. Samsung is calling it the “Galaxy Sanitizing Service” and as the name suggests, it is a service to sanitize your device.
Samsung is using UV-C wavelength of light to kill or inactivate the microorganisms on your phone. This UV-C wavelength of light is suitable for disinfection.
As we have mentioned in a post recently, please do not sanitize your devices with hand sanitizer, rubbing alcohol, or alcohol swabs. The most non-destructive way to sanitize your device is with UV light – and that’s what Samsung is offering.
The whole Galaxy Sanitizing Service just popped out of nowhere, and even Samsung Malaysia has already updated its website detailing this service, as seen here.
Samsung has made it clear that the UV-C sanitation method is not guaranteed to kill all microorganisms that are on your phone. So don’t rely on this service to eliminate the coronavirus.
The Galaxy Sanitizing Service is now available at all Samsung Service Centers and Samsung Experience Stores, but we will need to go to The Garden or Pavillion to get our Galaxy tablet and Galaxy smartwatches sanitized.
Reading through the terms and condition, we found out that:
- This service is free
- All smartphones (including non-Samsung) are eligible for the Galaxy Sanitation Service
It’s a great service to be offered as we touch our phones way too many times in a day despite having dirty or clean hands. To getting our phones sanitized is certainly important. But please, wash your phone case too while you’re at it.
Update: The service is still up and running today!
But please, only drop by if it’s already in your way. Stay at home as much as possible.
